When I hear stories like this posted to the BP forum or here or mailing lists, I say I'm worried about stories like this and to please find out the salesperson who said this and let you or Ed know so you can go give them a swift kick in the *ss (I'd be happy to do it to and even give an addition kick if I happen to wander by a certain Steve's office ;-)
There have been a few people in the BP forum who claim to have had IBM salesreps do this to their own personal clients, so I hope some of them have contacted you by now. It's a bit disturbing to see no resolution to some of those stories (though I do remember you saving one of those accounts :-)...
